PRICING AND COSTS

Our puppies are $2500 with AKC Limited/Pet Registration.

There are many costs that go into a litter. Inflation has also hit us like others in the costs of quality dog food, cleaning supplies, vet care, and everywhere else. Even the water, propane, and electricity to wash 3 loads of puppy laundry a day has gone up (it's a LOT of laundry). GoodDog has a realistic breakdown of the costs of RESPONSIBLE breeding in the article you can find here.

I emphasize 'responsible' because I do know of people that breed dogs without doing genetic or OFA testing on the parents, overbreed multiple females, don't take puppies to the vet, keep the puppies outside in cages where they don't have to handle cleanup, feed the cheapest dog food possible, and offer no training, curriculum, or personal care for the puppies. This kind of breeding is cheap and these are the puppies that you can find for a few hundred dollars. That isn't the way I do things.

For those that can't afford the quality that I offer, I understand. In the past I've had room in my heart and a home for a dog, but not the extra income to afford anything above the local animal shelter's adoption fee. Our shelter here in Benton, IL has had donations made to cover adoption fees in the past and there are many Facebook pages for rehoming directly from owners that can't care for their pets anymore. If a pure poodle is the best option for you, I recommend checking into breed specific rescues. I understand that different circumstances can mean that some people are in a good place to have a rescue dog while others are better off to seek out a respectable breeder.

Talking about money isn’t a fun lead-in, but I am firm supporter of being honest and straightforward. It's important to understand the other costs of owning a puppy in order to make sure that you budget accordingly. Here is an AKC article about the costs of owning a puppy. One thing that can be very expensive is an unforeseen veterinary cost. Puppies are curious and clumsy which makes them prone to accidents. This is one reason that all of our puppies go home with 30 days free of Trupanion insurance. The coverage is immediate and can be activated up to 24 hours prior to pick-up to cover things that could happen during transport.

Our puppies are raised in our home using methods and curriculum from Avidog and Puppy Culture. We begin handling the puppies the day they are born and start working on early neurological stimulation in their first week of life. As they get older, there is more time devoted to group and individual training and care. I utilize many enrichment methods and training including noise desensitization, car rides, experience outdoors, balance boards/balls, activity cubes, alternating toys daily, household desensitization, sound stimulation, socialization with children and adult dogs, early neurological stimulation, water introduction and play, grooming and nail care, surface and tactile stimulation, litter box training, and crate training, to name a few.

All puppies are dewormed regularly and go home microchipped and vaccinated. They are seen by our veterinarian 2-3 times before going to their new homes. Puppies go home with a Snuggle Puppy kit that has a plush puppy that sleeps with them. The plush has littermates' and Mom's scents, heat pack, and beating heart to make the transition to their new homes easier. Puppies also go home with a leash, collar, food, certificate of health, and a folder with tips to help with the transition.

We believe that it is important to give back to our community and help dogs that are in need. To show our commitment, $100 from the sale of each of our puppies will go to local shelters for dog food, supplies, and/or to help sustain low-cost spay/neuter programs.
